Ingredients

Makes about 30 mini pancakes. Tap to check off as you go.

Contains: egg, milk (optional).

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Ripe banana pieces, two cracked eggs, rolled oats and a splash of milk inside a glass blender jar on a pastel kitchen counter

    1Load the blender

Add the banana, eggs, oats, milk, baking powder and cinnamon to a blender.

  2. Step 2: Smooth pale golden pancake batter in a glass blender jar, a small spatula resting beside it

    2Blend smooth

Blend for 30–45 seconds until completely smooth. Let the batter rest for 5 minutes so the oats thicken it slightly.

  3. Step 3: A non-stick skillet on a stovetop with a pat of melting butter, pastel kitchen background

    3Heat the pan

Warm a large non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and brush lightly with butter or oil.

  1. Step 4: Small coin-size circles of pancake batter being poured into a skillet from a measuring spoon

    4Drop mini circles

Pour batter into coin-size circles (about 1 tablespoon each), leaving space between them.

  2. Step 5: Mini golden pancakes in a skillet being flipped with a small spatula, some showing bubbles

    5Flip when bubbly

Cook 1–2 minutes until bubbles appear and edges look set, then flip and cook 1 minute more until golden.

  3. Step 6: A pile of mini banana oat pancake bites on a sunny yellow toddler divided plate, with a small section of sliced strawberries and a small section of blueberries that are all cut in half so their pale green insides show (no whole blueberries anywhere in the image)

    6Cool and serve

Let cool for a few minutes, then serve whole for older toddlers or cut into strips for younger eaters. Add halved berries on the side.

How to serve by age

9–12 months

Cook the pancakes a little larger and cut them into finger-length strips, which are easier for babies to grip than small rounds. Serve plain, with any berries flattened or quartered.

12–24 months

Serve the mini pancakes whole or halved, with quartered strawberries or halved blueberries on the side.

2–3 years

Serve whole with plain yogurt for dipping, or spread thinly with nut or seed butter for extra protein.

Allergy & diet swaps

Egg-free
Replace each egg with a flax egg (1 tbsp ground flaxseed + 3 tbsp water, rested 5 minutes). The pancakes are softer, so cook them a minute longer on low heat.
Dairy-free
Use any unsweetened plant milk, and oil instead of butter in the pan.
Gluten-free
Use oats labeled certified gluten-free.

Tips

  • The browner the banana, the sweeter the pancakes.
  • Freeze cooled pancakes flat on a tray, then transfer to a bag. Reheat from frozen in the toaster or microwave for 20 seconds.
  • Swap 2 tablespoons of oats for ground flaxseed for extra omega-3s.

Storage & safety

Storage: Fridge: 3 days in an airtight container. Freezer: up to 3 months.

Suggested age: 9 months+. Every child is different — serve textures and sizes that match your toddler's chewing skills.

Always seat your toddler upright and stay close while they eat. Cut round foods into small pieces and spread nut butters thinly. Read our toddler food safety guide for more.

Questions parents ask

Can babies eat banana oat pancakes?

Yes, from about 9 months, once your baby is eating soft finger foods and egg has been introduced. Cut them into strips and stay close while your baby eats.

Can I freeze banana pancakes?

Yes. Freeze them flat on a tray, then move them to a freezer bag for up to 3 months. Reheat from frozen for about 20 seconds in the microwave or a few minutes in the toaster.

Do toddler pancakes need syrup or sugar?

No. A very ripe banana sweetens the batter. Added sugar isn't recommended before age 2, so serve them plain, with yogurt or with mashed berries.

Why are my pancakes falling apart?

The batter is probably too thin. Let it rest 5 minutes so the oats absorb the liquid, keep the heat medium-low, and flip only when the edges look set.
