Instructions
-

1Dice the fruit
Dice the strawberries, mango and kiwi into small pea-size pieces. Halve or gently squish the blueberries.
-

2Toast the oats
Toast the certified gluten-free oats in a dry pan for 2–3 minutes until fragrant, stirring often. Let cool.
-

3Flavor the yogurt
Stir a pinch of cinnamon into the yogurt.
-

4Start the rainbow
Spoon a layer of strawberries into the bottom of two small clear cups, then add a layer of yogurt.
-

5Keep layering
Add mango, more yogurt, kiwi and blueberries to create rainbow layers.
-

6Top and serve
Sprinkle with the toasted gluten-free oats and serve right away with a toddler spoon.
How to serve by age
9–12 months
Serve the yogurt with mashed or very finely diced soft fruit on a preloaded spoon. Stir the oats into the yogurt so they soften.
12–24 months
Dice the fruit pea-size, halve or flatten the blueberries, and stir the oats in rather than leaving them on top.
2–3 years
Let your toddler build their own rainbow layers in a clear cup.
Allergy & diet swaps
🌾 Gluten-free: Gluten-free as written, as long as your oats are labeled certified gluten-free. Regular oats are often cross-contaminated with wheat. Use plain yogurt with no add-ins.
- Dairy-free
- Use a plain unsweetened coconut or soy yogurt, ideally one with added calcium.
- Oat-free
- Top with hemp hearts instead of oats, or skip the topping.
- Other fruit
- Any soft fruit works: ripe pear, peach, banana or raspberries.
Tips
- Choose plain yogurt — flavored yogurts can contain a lot of added sugar.
- Swirl in a spoon of mashed raspberries for pink yogurt.
- Assemble without the oats the night before for grab-and-go mornings.
Storage & safety
Storage: Best eaten fresh. Assembled parfaits (without oats) keep 1 day in the fridge.
Suggested age: 12 months+. Every child is different — serve textures and sizes that match your toddler's chewing skills.
Always seat your toddler upright and stay close while they eat. Cut round foods into small pieces and spread nut butters thinly. Read our toddler food safety guide for more.
Questions parents ask
Is Greek yogurt good for toddlers?
Yes. Plain whole-milk Greek yogurt gives protein, calcium and healthy fat. Skip flavored yogurts, which often have a lot of added sugar.
Are blueberries a choking hazard for toddlers?
Whole blueberries can be for young toddlers. Halve or gently flatten them, as this recipe does.
Can I make yogurt parfaits ahead?
Yes. Layer the yogurt and fruit the night before and keep it covered in the fridge, then add the oats just before serving.
Is this yogurt parfait gluten-free?
Yes, as long as you use oats labeled certified gluten-free. Regular oats are often cross-contaminated with wheat.
