How we check every recipe

A recipe only appears here if none of its ingredients or steps contain gluten. That means no wheat, barley, rye, malt, regular oats, flour, bread, breadcrumbs, pasta or tortillas, unless the ingredient itself is labeled gluten-free. Recipes that need a swap to become gluten-free are not listed.

Brands and recipes change, so always read the label on every packaged ingredient, even ones that are usually gluten-free, like cheese, spices and cooking spray.

Gluten-free tips for toddlers

  • Oats don't contain gluten, but they're often cross-contaminated with wheat. Only use oats labeled certified gluten-free.
  • Read labels on breadcrumbs, tortillas, pasta, broth, soy sauce and baking mixes. Tamari labeled gluten-free can replace soy sauce.
  • For celiac disease, avoid cross-contact: use a separate toaster, clean pans and boards, and fresh butter and spreads.
  • Thinking about going gluten-free because of tummy troubles? Talk to your pediatrician first, because celiac testing is only accurate while your child is still eating gluten.
