Creamy Avocado Pasta with Peas

Ripe avocado blends into a silky green sauce that coats pasta just like a cream sauce. Peas cook in the same pot, so lunch is ready in about 15 minutes with only one pan to wash.

How to serve by age

9โ€“12 months

Cook the pasta extra soft, mash the peas lightly and let baby pick up the spirals or eat from a preloaded spoon.

12โ€“24 months

Serve with a toddler fork or spoon. Whole peas are fine.

2โ€“3 years

Serve as is. Toddlers can help pour the peas into the pot (with help) and press the blender button.

Allergy & diet swaps

Gluten-free
Use a gluten-free pasta made from rice, corn or chickpeas.
Dairy-free
Leave out the yogurt and Parmesan and add an extra tbsp of olive oil.
Extra protein
Toss in shredded cooked chicken or flaked salmon.

Tips

  • Cook the pasta a minute past the package time so it's extra soft for new eaters.
  • A squeeze of lemon keeps the sauce bright green.
  • Mash the peas lightly for babies under 12 months.

Storage & safety

Storage: Best eaten fresh. Fridge: 1 day in an airtight container (the sauce may darken).

Suggested age: 9 months+. Every child is different โ€” serve textures and sizes that match your toddler's chewing skills.

Always seat your toddler upright and stay close while they eat. Cut round foods into small pieces and spread nut butters thinly. Read our toddler food safety guide for more.

Questions parents ask

Is avocado pasta healthy for toddlers?

Yes. Avocado adds healthy fats that support brain growth, and peas add protein and fiber.

Can I make avocado pasta ahead?

It's best fresh. Leftovers keep in the fridge for 1 day, but the sauce may darken.

Do I need to salt the pasta water?

No. Toddlers don't need added salt. The lemon and Parmesan add flavor.

What pasta shape is best for toddlers?

Spirals, shells and short tubes are easy to pick up and catch the sauce well.
