Contains: milk, wheat.

Instructions

  1. Step 1: A soft flour tortilla on a plate next to a microwave on a pastel kitchen counter

    1Warm the tortilla

Microwave the tortilla for 10 seconds so it's soft and easy to roll.

  2. Step 2: Cream cheese being spread over a flour tortilla with a butter knife

    2Spread the cream cheese

Spread the cream cheese all the way to the edges โ€” it's the 'glue'.

  3. Step 3: Slices of turkey and cheese layered on a tortilla spread with cream cheese

    3Layer the fillings

Lay the turkey and cheese over the cream cheese, leaving a 1-inch strip bare at the top edge.

  1. Step 4: A row of thin cucumber matchsticks and grated carrot along the edge of a tortilla with turkey and cheese

    4Add the veggies

Place a row of cucumber matchsticks and grated carrot along the bottom edge.

  2. Step 5: Small adult hands tightly rolling a tortilla with turkey, cheese and cucumber into a log

    5Roll tightly

Roll up tightly from the veggie edge, pressing gently so it sticks. Chill 10 minutes if you have time.

  3. Step 6: Turkey and cheese tortilla roll up sushi slices showing turkey, cheese and green cucumber in the spiral, arranged in rows on a bento style toddler plate with diced mango and quartered strawberries; no blueberries and no whole round berries anywhere in the image

    6Slice into sushi

Slice into 1-inch rounds with a sharp knife and serve standing up like sushi.

How to serve by age

9โ€“12 months

Best saved for later, since tortillas and deli turkey are chewy. Offer soft shredded turkey and thin cheese strips instead.

12โ€“24 months

From 18 months, peel the cucumber, choose thin, soft turkey slices and cut each round in half.

2โ€“3 years

Serve whole rounds. Let your toddler help spread the cream cheese and roll it up.

Allergy & diet swaps

Gluten-free
Use a soft gluten-free tortilla, warmed so it rolls without cracking.
Dairy-free
Spread with hummus instead of cream cheese and leave out the cheese. Hummus contains sesame.
Vegetarian
Skip the turkey and use hummus with baby spinach and extra cucumber.

Tips

  • For toddlers under 2, slice rounds in half and peel the cucumber to make it easier to chew.
  • Swap turkey for hummus and spinach for a vegetarian version.
  • Wrap the whole log in plastic wrap and slice in the morning for daycare.

Storage & safety

Storage: Fridge: 1 day, wrapped tightly.

Suggested age: 18 months+. Every child is different โ€” serve textures and sizes that match your toddler's chewing skills.

Always seat your toddler upright and stay close while they eat. Cut round foods into small pieces and spread nut butters thinly. Read our toddler food safety guide for more.

Questions parents ask

Is deli turkey OK for toddlers?

Now and then. Deli meats are high in sodium, so choose a low-sodium kind or use thinly sliced leftover roast turkey or chicken.

Can I pack roll-up sushi for daycare?

Yes. Roll it the night before, wrap it tightly, slice it in the morning and pack it with an ice pack.

Why does my roll-up fall apart?

Spread the cream cheese all the way to the edges, roll tightly, chill for 10 minutes and slice with a sharp knife.

What age can toddlers eat roll-up sushi?

From about 18 months, once your toddler chews well. Cut each round in half and peel the cucumber for younger toddlers.
